Day1    In Eastern Sichuan

Langzhong Ancient Town

The town, a perfect combination of ancient Chinese Fengshui Theory and architecture theory in its architectures, is an ancient town worth visiting and appreciation. There are 117 west-east or north-south roads crossing and dividing the town into many square courtyards. One fifth of the streets are preserved in the pattern of the Tang and Song Dynasties. Among ancient courtyards which represent the simple and elegant architectures in the Ming Dynasty and the complicated and exquisite architectures in the Qing Dynasty, there is also a special type of a multi-layer structure. The first patio and the second patio do not share the same axis, which forms a rhombus when shown on the plan of the rooms. Such structure implies "Three Manys": many descendants, many fortunes and many macrobians, but it is rare among ancient Chinese residential buildings.


Located on the northeastern rim of the Sichuan Basin and the middle reaches of the Jialing River, Langzhong Ancient Town attracts tourists keen to learn more about its rich and long history and culture, abundant tourism options, and unique landscapes. The architectural style of the town reflects ancient Chinese residential geomancy. With the checkerboard pattern of the ancient town, the building complex integrating southern and northern styles are typical examples of the harmony between man and nature in building site selection. The town is also known as the Hometown of Chinese Spring Festival Culture Three culinary specialties of Langzhong are Zhang Fei beef, Baoning vinegar, and steamed bread with sugar.

Day2    In Western Sichuan

Shangli Ancient Town

The ancient buildings in the town are well-arranged and the streets are paved with stone slabs. Along the river for 1km from the town to the upstream, there are more than 10 ancient bridges of the different types. Han’s Courtyard was built in the period of Emperor Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty and the carving in the courtyard was the effort of three generations. The contents of carving are mainly themed by Sichuan Opera and historical stories. The special embedded carving technique is a precious talent of the ancient town. There are dozens of stone inscriptions of slogans of the Red Army preserved in the ancient town, which forms a "Red Army Corridor".


Located in the northern part of Yucheng District, at the foot of the mountain in the city of Ya’an, Shangli Ancient Town was an important courier station from where the Linqiong ancient path on the Southern Silk Road entered Ya’an. It fell along the route of the northward Long March of the Red Army, and also of the Southern Silk Road in historical times. Surrounded by beautiful gardens and hills, there are charming and rustic wooden houses, and also stilt houses in the architectural styles of the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is also a popular film and TV shooting site.
Stewed silkie with Chinese yams is considered by the local people to be delicious and nutritious.

Day3    In Southern Sichuan

Xianshi Ancient Town

Therefore, the charm of ancient architectural art and Buddhist culture linger in the ancient town. There are red walls, black tiles, flying eaves, carved beams, painted rafters and vivid wood-carving animals and plants in different styles in the ancient buildings built in the late Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty, including Nanhua Palace and Tianshang Palace. Buddhist culture is also popular. There are many Buddha carvings, lingering incense, reverberating bell from the ancient temple in the town, "Fairy Valley" (once called "Jade Pond"), Cliff Carvings,, Kwan-yin Grotto, Moon Well and other scenic spots and historic sites.


An ancient town with a history going back more than 1,400 years, Xianshi was once one of the important docks along the Fuxi River, which was an ideal destination point for Zigong well salt to be exported from Sichuan. It is famous for its exquisite ancient building complex and prosperous Buddhist culture.
Sichuan cuisine in Zigong has its own unique style, and the spicy and fresh Yanbang cuisine has become the most popular cuisine in Sichuan.

Day4    In Northern Sichuan

Zhaohua Ancient Town

As early as 771 BC in the Western Zhou Dynasty, a town was set there - Qie State. In the following 2,000 years, the place was successively called Jiameng County, Hanshou County, Jinshou County, Yichang County and Zhaohua County. The name of Zhaohua County was used from the 5th year of Kaibao Period of the founder of Northern Song Dynasty (972) till the founding of New China. Then it became Zhaohua District and Zhaohua Town later. According to the records in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms or the History of the Three Kingdoms, this place was called "Jiameng" from 316 BC to 217 AD, more than 500 years. Among all these names, the most famous and impressive ones are Jiameng Pass and Zhaohua City.


With a history of almost 3,000 years, Zhaohua Ancient Town is one of China''''s key tourist attractions, and an important element of the relics of the Shu Kingdom Roads at Jianmen Pass, a key national historical relic. It is the best-preserved Three Kingdoms Ancient Town, and has been designated as a Film & TV Shooting Base by the Emei Film Group.
River food, soup, preserved meat, and country-style dishes are all specialties of the area.


A number of shuttle services run from Guangyuan to Zhaohua, mostly vans and minibuses.
