Day1    One-day Red Leaves Tour: Chengdu-Gucheng Red Leaves Tourism Zone-Chengdu

 Introduction

Located in the ancient city of Guangyuan, the Gucheng Red Leaves Tourism Zone is a mountainous forest landscape that is inhabited by numerous native animals, and with a network of fascinating caves. Three of the more spectacular attractions are the Qili and Cangwang Gorges, and the Yanjing River flowing through Mt Gucheng in Wangcang County. In the golden autumn period, the mountain resembles a carpet of luxuriant red leaves.

The scenic area, with profound historic culture, is a holy land of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism; Qili Gorge Scenic Area is located at the middle part of the scenic area and is a 3km-long gorge based on waterscape. The gorge, forests and waters are integrated with each other to form the colorful and secluded beautiful scenery. Calcification of karst cave in Bailong Palace Scenic Area has thousands of forms and is rarely seen in karst caves of northern Sichuan. Protection zone is not only the origin center of fagus plants, but also the modern distribution center of such plants. Till now, more than 7,000 hectares of fagus primeval forest are still located there. In the world, there are about 10 kinds of fagus plants, among which 7 kinds belong to Asia and 5 kinds belong to China. Micang Mountain Natural Reserve has 4 kinds.

Day2    Two-day Red Leaves Tour: Chengdu-Miyaluo Red Leaves Tourism Zone-Chengdu

 Introduction

The Miyaluo Red Leaves Tourism Zone, located in Li County, Ngawa Prefecture, forms part of the China Biosphere Reserve Network, a project of the Chinese National Committee for UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Programme.
With stunningly beautiful mountains and rivers, this area attracts visitors from all over the world, who are keen to experience not only the pristine environment but also specifically to marvel at the truly beautiful red autumn leaves and witness something of the mysterious and captivating Tibetan and Qiang folk customs. The zone extends over an area of 3,688 square kilometers, more than 180 times bigger than the Red Leaves Scenic Area in the better-known Beijing Fragrant Hills Park. It is one of the largest and most spectacular red leaves scenic areas open for tourism in China.
October is the prime time for tourists – this is when autumn is at its most spectacular best.
"Miyaluo" is Tibetan and means "a flat place in mountain for fun". It is located at Zagunao River Valley the branch of Minjiang River. "Zagunao" means "luck" in Tibetan. In the scenic area, mountains extend far and rivers cross vertically and horizontally, which demonstrates pleasant and beautiful scenery, especially, when autumn wind breezes. As maples, birches, larches in the forest along both banks of Zagunao River Valley are gradually frosted, leaves turn into gorgeous bright red and golden yellow. At this time, there will show red scenery. Red maple leaves within 3,000 sq. m are hung on trees, like flowers in full blossom.

 Transport 

The Miyaluo Red Leaves Tourism Zone is about 6 hours drive from the Chengdu Chadianzi Passenger Transportation Station.

 Accommodation 

Due to the relatively long distance, it is advisable to stay overnight. There are several hotels in the region, the Lixian and Hongyun Hotels being particularly comfortable choices, with a number of other local hotels.
