Guangwu Mountain Scenic Area is located in the north of Nanjiang County, Bazhong City, Sichuan Province, 70 km away from the county town and only 50 km away from Hanzhong City of Shaanxi. The area consists of five parts: Taoyuan, Shenmen, Wanzige, Putuo Village and Samller Wuxia Gorge, covering an area of 830 km2. With the unique Karst landform, simple and unsophisticated ecological vegetation, charming waterfall ponds and gorge scenery, the area was praised by the well-known poet Gao Ping as “Water of Jiuzhai and Mountain of Guangwu”. In autumn, there will be red leaves all over the mountains, dying all the mountains and waters. Therefore, Guangwu Mountain obtained the good reputation of China’s Best Mountain of Red Leaves.
Guangwu Mountain Scenic Area not only has beautiful landscape, but also has rich historical and cultural heritages.

Famous Attractions

Guangwu Mountain  

It has a complex terrain, overlapped peaks, deep and serene caves, densely covered spring, vast forests and a variety of tourist attractions. Located in the south of Taoyuan, it looks like a sleeping Buddha from a distance and is mist-shrouded all year around. Since the climate here is constantly changing, tourist can’t shout loudly, otherwise the rain comes down in a splash.

Shu Gate & Qin Pass  

Built in 2003, it is the North Gate of Guangwu Mountain Scenic Area and Micang Mountain Scenic Area and the boundary of Sichuan and Shaanxi, which is called “Shu Gate” from Shaanxi to Sichuan and “Qin Pass” from Sichuan to Shaanxi. It was an important pass between Sichuan and Shaanxi since the Qin and Han Dynasties where there was a wall platform, which was called “Heaven” in ancient times originated from a pome composed by Xiong Yifei, a famous poet in the Qing Dynasty.

Taoyuan  

Taoyuan mainly houses over 70 scenic areas, such as Longjia Mountain, Peach Mansion, Three Passes, Elephant Greeting Guests, South Gate, Qi’nu Peak, Yanzi Ridge, Buddha Worship, Yanyan Stone Forest, Yingtao River Valley, Jiexian Post House, Hanxi Gorge, Lianghekou, Tianmalian, Tianmen Karst Cave, Hujia Huwei, Xianyuan Rock, Taiji Doline and Ganling Temple.

Eighteen Ponds  

It mainly houses Jiujiao Mountain, Yuyin Platform (Jade Ink Pad), Eighteen Ponds and Nineteen Waterfalls, and enjoys dense forest and a variety of waterfalls and pools, which is called “Jiuzhai in Northeastern Sichuan”. Eighteen Ponds with the title of “Ponds better than that of Jiuzhai and red leaves famed in the world” is paved with granite and inlaid with ancient wood with waterfall and pool connecting to each other, forming a refreshing environment.

Transportation

1.Take train from Chengdu to Hanzhong and then take bus to Guangwu Mountain Scenic Area
2.Take the bus “Chengdu-Nanjiang” at Beimen Station of Chengdu and then transfer bus to Guangwu Mountain Scenic Area

Tips

Guangwu Mountain Red Leaves Festival starts from Oct. 11 to Nov. 11 every year.
