Sichuan widely sends invitation letters to the world with the brand “More than Pandas in Sichuan” to invite global tourists to be guests of “pandas’ hometown”.
Sichuan Tourism Steps on a Bigger International Stage
This year, the personnel of our province went to more countries and districts to propagandize “More than Pandas in Sichuan”. In May, we sent invitation letters to eastern European tourists in Prague of Czech Republic, which blew up a whirlwind of “panda”. At the end of June, the main leaders of provincial government carried “Cultural China, Beautiful Sichuan” to America to do communications and show Sichuan to American audiences.
In Malaysia, Sichuan ice-snow tourism mainly launched in Jiuzhaigou Valley, Hailuogou Valley and Dagu Iceberg harvested a huge order – “Thousands of Malaysia Touring Sichuan in 2017” signed with the largest tourism wholesaler “Golden Destinations” in Malaysia.
We mainly launched the culture of ancient Sichuan in Russia and caught their fancy to place peppers and wines into the itinerary products. This winter, the air line from Chengdu to Moscow will not be suspended any more, and more Russian tourists will leave for Panxi region in Sichuan to pursue sunshine.
This year in the campus of Taiwan University, we held a Promotion and Communication Activity of Taiwanese Undergraduates Participating in Study Tour in Sichuan Campuses; in Hong Kong, we held an activity of “Thousands of Hong Kong & Macao Students Participating in Study Tour in Sichuan”.
Last year, we established multiple overseas marketing centers in Japan and Korea.
This year, we have set up a marketing platform system with multilingual website system containing Tsichuan as the core by coordinating with Youtube, Facebook and Twitter, and further enhanced the joint development of marketing channel system with famous overseas OTAs such as Expedia and TripAdviser.
Pandas in Left Hand and Sichuan Cuisine in Right Hand
On September 2, the global tourism marketing activity of “Pandas Go to the World – Beautiful China” hosted by National Tourism Administration and undertaken by Sichuan Tourism Development Committee was launched in Berlin, Germany.
In less than half a year, this activity reached many countries and districts: in Austria, “Pandas Go to the World” shined brilliantly with colorful lamps of Sichuan; in Macao, “Pandas Go to the World” was showed through various forms such as promotion conference, exhibition and street show; in Thailand, we coordinated with overseas traveling salesmen to give play to the mobile publicity benefit… Until the midmonth of November, we have held activities in 7 overseas target markets where we combined the features of each region to highlight each stop.
In addition, we also forged another overseas theme marketing brand – Global Famous Sichuan Cuisine Restaurant and Sichuan Food Trip Marketing Activity this year; the page views reached 3 millions. In the activity, 86 friends from the world registered for participating in the recruitment of “Global Food Trip Expert”; 169 domestic and overseas Sichuan cuisine restaurants registered for participating in the “Famous Sichuan Cuisine Restaurant Establishment Activity”; a lot of net friends provided about one hundred of “Sichuan Food Trip Routes”. Not only that, in 9 street show activities held in the countries such as America, Russia, Germany and Thailand, the number of on-site participants exceeded 100 thousand.
Recast a Resplendence Next Year
Next year, the 22nd UNWTO General Meeting hosted by National Tourism Administration and Sichuan Provincial Government will be held in Chengdu. We will display the most important traveling resources and marketing products of Sichuan to the world.
The overseas marketing activities themed by “Pandas Go to the World – Beautiful China” and “Global Famous Sichuan Cuisine Restaurant and Sichuan Food Trip” will be held continuously at the same time.
